Hello from Kewl Candle Factory . This month we are going to be talking about one of the gel candles the really "Sell Like Wildfire" the Kewl Kitty Candles. We will be talking about these candles with master gel candle maker Brian Hewit from Elfin Crafts Workshop.

If you are really serious about selling your gel candles than you might be missing the boat if you are not on the Kewl Kitty bandwagon! Please enjoy the photos and information that Brian has provided.

Now let's see what Brian has to say:

KCF: Brian your candles are really great. How long have you been making gel candles.
Brian: I have been making gel candles for about a year and a half.

KCF: We know that Elfin Craft Workshop is involved in many types of crafts including glass. Can you tell us why gel candles are of interest you?
Brian: Gel Candles allow for unlimited creativity.

KCF: What do you think of these Kewl Kitty Candles?
Brian: The Kewl Kitties are an awesome addition to my candle sales. You have the large kitty and the large candle with it. This makes for a one two knock out punch and a fantastic candle combination!

KCF: There are two styles of the Kewl Kitty. Is there any style that is more popular?
Brian: Actually there is no clear favorite. They are all equally liked.

KFC: What are your customer's reactions to these candles?
Brian: Out of a whole table consisting if many types of candles, the Kewl Kitty Candles are the first they really look at. They see the large kitty and then the unique contents of the candle.

KCF: Wow these sounds like a great way to get people to stop at your table!

KCF: We noticed that you like to do an insert gel candle in the large bowl. Why is this?
Brian: I like making my Kewl Kitty Candles with the votive insert so that the work I have put into the fishbowl will last. Is is an everlasting gel candle in a sense. When customers find out that they will never ruin the fishbowl scene by burning the candle then they realize that this can be a permanent fixture on a table.

KCF: Great Idea Brian. We always triple wick our Kewl Kitty Candles, but I think we will switch now!
Brian: It will help sales.

KCF: We also noticed that you use blue gel in the insert. Why is that?
Brian: Most people prefer the blue because it hides the wick.

KCF: Is there any fragrance that works well with the Kewl Kitty?
Brian: Any type of water fragrance works well.
KCF: We like the Ocean Mist or the Tropical Hawaii.

KCF: Brian thanks for taking the time to share you expertise with all of the gel candle makers out there. Any final advice for other candle makers out there?
Brian: Be Creative and be safe.

Well folks there you have it. If you are serious about selling at craft shows this could be your ticket. Now a lot of people have said to us that the Kewl Kitty is expensive and that they would have to charge a good price to turn a good profit on them. We will not deny this but there are a couple of ways to look at these.

The Kitty is a good quality hand painted ceramic piece. If we follow Brian's advice and make them an "everlasting" gel candle then we are giving the customer good value. There are a lot of people selling these for a good price. You won't know unless you try!

At Kewl Candle Factory we really stress putting up a nice display and don't sell in garage sale glasses. We say that if you sell in garage sale glasses you will get garage sale prices!

Part of a good display could include the show stopper Kewl Kitty Candles. Even if you put two or three on your craft show table and they don't sell, you will stop traffic and get interest on your products.
Many pro crafters use this technique to make sales. Offer the show stoppers (higher price) to get people looking then make the sale at whatever price level the customer is ready to purchase at.

Once you have them stopped and talking "Set the Hook" and make the sale !!!!!

If Kewl Kitty Candles are not already a part of your gel candle offerings then maybe they should be?

Remember Safety First. Always use gel candle warning labels and practice safe gel candle making.

Please enjoy the fun pics from Kewl Candle Factory that we think you will like if you are a cat lover. We call the pictures in these series the High Class Kewl Kitty Pics.

Please feel free to use these pictures as wallpaper on your computer (they look great).

It is not recommend to use flammable items, dead sea creatures, or real food items in gel candles. It is recommended that you double glass your designs, with the wick and gel in the inner glass, away from the design and gel in the outer glass. It is up to the designer to ensure that the design is safe for the end user. You/Designer should provide instructional warnings to end user, especially to not leave any burning candle unattended.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. This material is NOT intended to be used by or made by children under 18 years of age without close adult supervision. Keep all candles (gel, soy, wax) away from children. Anyone younger than 18 years of age needs adult supervision to make or handle Gel Candles. safety

Burn candle only on a stable, heat-resistant surface for no more than four hours at a time. If flame gets too large or exposed wick is greater than 1/4 inch, extinguish flame and trim wick. Keep away from drafts and flammable material. Do not allow matches or wick trimmings to fall into melt pool. Never burn the last half of a candle. Do not move while burning or if gel is still hot. Keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4 inch to prevent smoke and soot buildup. Do not extinquish gel with water -- if possible smother the flame, or use baking soda for small flames, or a fire extrinquisher.
